About

HCD is a method commonly used in management and design that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process – an approach that can add tremendous value to all sorts of business processes. It became most famous through the global design company IDEO. At Swisscom I became an expert at quick doodling and picking participants’ brains during HCD workouts.

The quickest and funniest way to come up with new business models.

The best way to identify problems is along the customer experience chain.

It’s also the perfect method to get stakeholders involved, invested and committed early, even if they’re from different companies.

Human-Centered Design workshops are a great starting point to gather knowledge from a diverse range of specialists, from a variety of customer perspectives.

Depending on the nature of the project, the results of a workout leads to management decisions, is continued in-team or handed over to design professionals. The results of my first workout in 2008 lead to a project for and the creation of the Swisscom Community.
